Hawks in the NFL: Week 14

Week 14 - done and dusted. Let’s take a look back at former Hawks in the pros. Let’s go!

**Tight Ends + Jack Campbell, Lukas Van Ness, and Tory Taylor**

We usually start here, and we need to again. **Sam LaPorta** started the week with 5 receptions for 54 yards as Detroit rolled the dice late - kind of for no reason, even though I love me some Dan Campbell - and got in range of a chip shot field goal to beat Green Bay, 34-31. While we’re in Detroit, **Jack Campbell** led the Lions again with 8 tackles. On the other sideline, **Lukas Van Ness** logged 3 tackles for the [Packers](https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/). Detroit moved to 12-1 on the season, while Green Bay dropped to 9-4 and essentially out of the NFC North race (Detroit won both meetings.) Detroit still has to keep winning, as both Minnesota and Philadelphia won on Sunday.

Speaking of Minnesota - the Vikings were tied with Atlanta going into the fourth quarter, but scored three unanswered touchdowns to stay on Detroit’s heels with a 42-21 win. **T.J. Hockenson** finished with 4 receptions for 45 yards.

Seattle’s run to the NFC West title continued as the [Seahawks](https://www.fieldgulls.com/) defeated Arizona, 30-18. **Noah Fant** has had a quiet season - again, Seattle’s skill players are REALLY good and deep - and he finished this game with 3 receptions for 19 yards.

Finally, we end in San Francisco. It’s been a hellish season for the Niners, between early hold outs, absurd injury issues, and that’s before we mention the Ricky Pearsall situation right before the season started, but they are somehow still alive after handling the Bears, 38-13. **George Kittle** was the star of the show again, snagging 6 passes for 151 yards in another sterling performance from Kittle.

**Tory Taylor** wasn’t supposed to punt much this year, per Caleb Williams, but he had another 6 boots Sunday for 316 yards - a 52.7-yard average for the rookie.

**Josey Jewell and Cooper DeJean**

The Outlaw is putting together a great finish to the season. Jewell finished Carolina’s close 22-16 loss in Philadelphia with 10 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks.

Carolina is a bad team, but at least they play hard and Bryce Young has seemingly turned a corner and looks serviceable. They are somehow trending back in the right direction after looking like one of the worst teams in the league.

On the other sideline, **DeJean** had 5 tackles and 1 TFL as the Eagles also kept the heat on Detroit. Both Philly and Minnesota are just a game back of Detroit, at 11-2. Detroit and Minnesota still have to play once more, in Week 18 in Detroit. Detroit plays Buffalo this weekend, then still has a visit to maybe-alive San Francisco before the Minnesota game to close the season.

**Geno Stone and Chauncey Golston**

It’s been a weird season for the Bengals. They’ve lost every close game in some bizarre circumstances. This week, they flipped the script, winning in Dallas, 27-20 thanks to a special teams disaster from the Cowboys in the final two minutes of a 20-20 game.

Stone provided one of the key plays of the game early, picking off a tipped pass deep in their own territory to keep Dallas from taking the lead.

Stone finished with 5 tackles and the above pick. Meanwhile, **Chauncey Golston** finished with 2 tackles as Dallas fell to 5-8 and a shocking 1-6 at home.
