Despite suffering a bone bruise in his knee in Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers, Aidan O’Connell does, in fact, have a decent chance to start Monday’s game against the Falcons.
Head coach Antonio Pierce told reporters on Wednesday that O’Connell is participating in the club’s activities.
“Aidan walked in the building, was in the weight room, in the training room,” Pierce said. “Was at walk-through right now and when we have our walk-through later, he’ll be out there.”
Does that mean the club plans to start him versus Atlanta?
“We’ll see how the week goes,” Pierce said.
Should O’Connell not be available, Desmond Ridder would start against the team that drafted him.
O’Connell, 26, has started four games this year with six total appearances. He’s completed 63.2 percent of his trows for 899 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Because the Raiders are not playing until Monday night, the team’s first injury report of the week will be issued on Thursday.
