Sandro Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso has responded to the claims that the midfielder wants a return to Serie A, branding it nonsense.
A report earlier today from La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Tonali is looking for a way out of Newcastle United because he does not feel a key part of their plans.
It was suggested that he is feeling a bit homesick and that a return to Serie A could be on the cards, with Milan naturally mentioned given that they are his boyhood team.
Now, Tonali’s agent Riso has offered a comment to Fabrizio Romano regarding the story that is doing the rounds and he made it clear that the rumours are far from the truth.
“Sandro is absolutely not considering a return to Serie A. He’s happy at Newcastle, happy to play in the best league in the world and he’s an idol for Newcastle fans who’ve always supported Sandro in every moment,” he said.
It is of course a response that is to be expected, both because Tonali signed a contract until 2028 last summer and because the club stood by him while he served his ban. Now he is back, Newcastle will hope to see their investment being repaid.
