Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is exploring opportunities to return to the Serie A.
According to a [report](https://www.gazzetta.it/Calciomercato/11-12-2024/tonali-milan-ritorno-possibile-e-rottura-a-newcastle-il-nodo-prestito-e-le-altre-piste.shtml?refresh_ce) by **Carlo Laudisa** of **La Gazzetta dello Sport**, Sandro Tonali feels unsettled at Newcastle United due to his diminishing role in the squad. While he is an important member of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy side, the 24-year-old is slowly falling out of favour with manager Eddie Howe.
Tonali has played in 13 Premier League matches this term, starting from the bench seven times, totalling around 650 minutes. The Italian international is aiming for a move to the Serie A next summer possibly to play regular football and regain his form.
A permanent transfer is practically impossible at this stage as Tonali’s contract with The Magpies runs till 2028 but a loan move is on the cards if can persuade Howe. Milan remain one of the likely options but the player’s €9 million net per year salary is a huge problem as any Serie A side will find it hard to cover all of it.
Juventus and Inter have taken an interest in the situation and Tonali will be one of the topics to look out for in January.
