The Kansas City Chiefs lost wideout Marquise "Hollywood" Brown on the first play of the preseason to a sternoclavicular joint injury. That injury required surgery and a long, extensive rehabilitation.
It was originally feared that Brown could be lost for the regular season with a chance he'd make his 2024 debut in the playoffs.
But on Wednesday, good news came from 1 Arrowhead Drive.
"He's getting close," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Wednesday. "He's champing at the bit to get back out there, but he's got to visit with the doctor to make sure he gets clearance there."
This comes on the heels of quarterback Patrick Mahomes updating Brown's return on the Carrington Harrison Show on 96.5 The Fan earlier this week.
"Yeah, no. I mean, he's been, he's been working, man. He's saying he's ready to go," Mahomes said. "I mean, obviously it's a long break, and he has to get cleared, and all that different type of stuff to play. But I mean, he's ready, he's ready to go. And I'm excited for him, and hopefully, he's able to get out there quicker, sooner rather than later."
So far the Chiefs have set a Week 16 or Week 17 return for Brown. That would mean a return against either the Texans at home or the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

"I think once he gets out there, many will be able to kind of fit right in and get some reps. We got to be smart, obviously, but you want to get them wrapped up and ready to go for the playoffs," Mahomes added.
