'He is happy": Sandro Tonali's agent moves to shut down talk of Newcastle United exit

· December 11 2024, 19:55

The Sandro Tonali rumours have got so out of hand that the Italian's agent has had to release a statement.

Reports originating in Italy have been rife the last couple of days suggesting that Sandro Tonali's days at Newcastle United are numbered.

Indeed, that has been the view of the Italian press since before he had even pulled on the black and white shirt for the first time such was their hatred of seeing one of their favourite sons leave for pastures new.

In the last two days two different Italian outlets have reported on Tonali returning to Italy with Calciomercato suggesting that Newcastle will sell the midfielder to comply with PSR and Gazzetta going down the route of Tonali being unhappy because Newcastle are struggling.

Fabrizio Romano has shared quotes from Sandro Tonali's agent over his future

Fabrizio Romano has today relayed a quote from Tonali's Agent, Guiseppe Riso which dispel the rumours of any unhappiness on Tonali's part.

“Sandro is absolutely not considering to return in Serie A”.

“He’s happy at Newcastle, happy to play in the best league in the world and he’s an idol for #NUFC fans who’ve always supported Sandro in every moment”.

We applaud Tonali's agent for being proactive

As we said earlier, we weren't even slightly moved by the stories coming out of Italy, especially as it was only a few days ago that Tonali was speaking to the Italian press and there was no mention of him being unhappy or itching for a return to Serie A.

We love that his agent has acted quickly to shut down the rumours, however. It's better to address them than to let them build and take on a life of their own.

We've had enough of that recently with Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon rumours. If only their agents were as proactive.
