Wednesday morning was not a good day of updates for the New York Jets when it came to some of their brightest stars on the roster.
Interim head coach Jeff Ulbirch began Wednesday's press conference with the announcement that special teams ace Irv Charles had torn his ACL and would be done for the season.

Charles, 27, is set to hit injured reserve and is a restricted free agent after this season.
He isn't the only impact player dealing with a key injury, though.
Breece Hall, New York's top feature running back is "struggling" in his attempt to recover from a knee injury that he suffered during the season, but played through against the Seattle Seahawks two weeks prior.
Hall missed the Jets' 32-26 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins for this same injury.
While Ulbirch did say the team was not considering placing Hall on injured reserve at this time, it seems that this is what will eventually happen down the stretch.

Gang Green currently sits at 3-10 on the year. They have been eliminated from playoff contention and will have a new general manager/head coach combo coming in over the next couple of months.
For Hall to not only play through a "serious" knee injury as was previously reported by Connor Hughes of SNY, but to risk his long-term health in the final four weeks would be foolish for both the player and the organization.
Making matters even more complex is the fact that Hall is eligible for an extension after the season as well. Why would the team risk playing him and hurt his overall value in the coming months ahead?
While the Jets welcomed back All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner, it would be beyond foolish for the team to continue to push Hall to play for the final four games of the regular season in another lost year.
