TMC slams ally Congress, BJP over Parl disruptions
Parliament
Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee Wednesday criticised BJP and Congress for the frequent adjourn- ments in Parliament, accusing them of causing disruptions that prevented other parties from raising their issues. Banerjee said functioning of the House was largely dictated by the actions of BJP and Congress, with both parties responsible for adjournments. He said this hampered the ability of smaller parties to participate in discussions.
"The House operates according to the will of Congress and BJP. They need to decide if they want to let the House function," Banerjee said. "BJP, as the governing party, and Congress, as the main opposition, are given ample oppor- tunities, while we are sidelined. They can shut down proceedings whenever they wish," he added. Banerjee said when BJP or Congress did not wish to allow the House to proceed, they used various issues, like the recent Soros controversy, to force adjournments.
