Carlos Soler needs to make Martin Allen eat his words as his game time at West Ham increases.
The 27-year-old had a bit of a slow start to the season with limited game time but Julen Lopetegui has rewarded him with more minutes as of late.
The midfielder is now being used as a regular in the side although the Hammers are still struggling to find consistency in their performances and results.
Despite his increased game time, former Hammer Allen has admitted he wouldn’t take the Spaniard permanently as when asked, he posted on X: ““Erm. I need some time to think about that one. No.”
Carlos Soler needs to prove himself at West Ham
While it may have been a bit of a slow start to life at the London Stadium for Soler, Allen’s blunt response over the player’s future feels like he could have judged the player too harshly, too soon.

After getting an assist in the 5-2 loss against Arsenal, he has seen his minutes in claret and blue increase which is a reflection of his improvement.
The problem at West Ham is that, despite a victory against Wolves, Lopetegui still seems unable to get his team to deliver a consistent level of performance which in turn, is having an impact on their results.

Furthermore, the inconsistencies mean there continues to be immense pressure on the shoulders of the Hammers boss which no doubt makes the environment at the London Stadium harder to let go and perform in.
Of course, managerial changes or a change in form under their current boss could change everything in the remainder of the season but Soler should feel his confidence increasing as he continues to have a place in the squad.
The Spaniard certainly hasn’t been a stand-out player in a positive or negative sense so far but this gives him the scope to show what he’s made of and make himself a necessity for the Hammers’ success.
