Crystal Palace plotting January move for 27-year-old South American attacker

Crystal Palace are set to revive their interest in Colombian winger Jhon Arias as they look to bolster their attacking setup in January.

According toFootball Insider, Colombian Winger Jhon Arias is on Crystal Palace’s radar ahead of the January window. Manager Oliver Glasner is eager to bolster his attacking setup in the winter window, as the Fluminense winger is seen as a potential candidate to improve their numbers.

Crystal Palace has not had the kind of start one would have expected, considering how their performances were at the end of last season. Oliver Glasner has failed to galvanise the side despite being given a decent transfer budget to spend in the summer.

The big problem for the Eagles has been the departure of Michael Olise, who has left a big void to fill in the attacking side of things. Palace has scored the second-fewest goals with 14 in the Premier League, which, without Olise, has been a bit difficult. However, the January window presents an opportunity to strengthen that side of the pitch.

They are on the lookout for a versatile attacker and have been linked to some ambitious names like Patrick Dorgu orAtletico Madrid’s Angel Correa. However, there are doubts whether they can prise away either of those names in January.

A free transfer for Ryan Kent is also mooted, with plenty of other clubs also looking closely at recruiting the former Liverpool winger in January. There are some other names on Palace’s list, with Jhon Arias the late to emerge as a potential target.

Palace could move for Jhon Arias in January

Arias, a regular in the Colombian national side, played every game at the Copa America in the summer as they lost to Argentina in the Final. He is also a big performer for Fluminense, where he has been influential ever since leaving his native Colombia.Palace held an interest back in the summer, as his versatile qualities, which include playing in all three of the front three positions, were seen as valuable.

West Ham are also keen on Arias, although Palce could make a push to sign the 27-year-old South American attacker in january. He could add some much-needed experience in that attacking setup and complement the likes of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Eberechi Eze and Eddie Nketiah well. A move could be on the cards, although it will depend on the price tag on the player’s head.
