Ruben Amorim makes unpopular decision after watching Man Utd starlet closely, he could be‘frozen out’

Ruben Amorim has made an unpopular decision after watching a Manchester United starlet closely behind the scenes.

Manchester United fans were excited with the club’s decision to bring in Ruben Amorim as the new head coach last month.

Despite a slow start at Old Trafford, his stellar record at Sporting and the way he has handled himself in the media are two factors which make people think he could be successful.

Another reason his arrival was highly anticipated was due to his history of trusting young players during his time in Portugal.

16-year-old centre-back Godwill Kukonki has already been included on the bench in the first-team and others could get opportunities in the coming weeks.

However, one player who many expected to have a big role this season might need to work a lot more than anticipated to get any chances under Amorim.

A report from GiveMeSport has explained that Harry Amass is at risk of being ‘completely frozen out’ of the first-team after making strides towards a debut under Erik ten Hag.

Amorim wants the club to sign a new left-back option rather than giving the 17-year-old a chance in the team, with new coaches and key figures adamant that Amass needs more time to develop.

It was also explained that Amorim had come to this conclusion after watching Amass closely behind the scenes.

The teenager was close to breaking into the first team under Ten Hag, with many fans looking forward to his inclusion after impressing during the latest pre-season tour.

His lack of involvement now may be unpopular amongst those familiar with Amass, but Amorim places great importance on the wingbacks in his team and will have a different view on the teenager to his predecessor.

This also follows reports which claim United are closing in on a deal to sign 17-year-old Paraguayan left-back Diego León.

Amass may look for a potential loan deal to get first-team minutes and push himself into Amorim’s long-term plans.
