The Dallas Mavericks are currently in a championship window, with the team going all in on the superstar duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, meaning the franchise is likely more willing to make bold moves and target players that could be game-changers.
Dallas is currently on a bit of a hot streak, with the team winning eight of their last 10 games, and seemingly have gotten back on track as a legitimate title contender in the Western Conference, sporting a record of 16-9.
With the NBA trade deadline less than two months away on February 6, the Mavericks could be one of the more active teams in the West, as they are trying to keep up with teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics.
One player the team could go after ahead of February’s trade deadline is defensive-minded forward Herb Jones of the New Orleans Pelicans, who could be a vital piece to the championship puzzle in Dallas.
According to Bovada, the Mavericks have the best odds to land Jones in a trade in the coming weeks, followed by the Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks via NBA Central.

The Pelicans are a team that has really struggled this season, with New Orleans looking toward the 2025 NBA Draft rather than the NBA playoffs, as injuries to star players have taken a serious toll on this team.
With the Pelicans being sellers ahead of the deadline, the Mavericks will have an opportunity to acquire him at the right price, which would be a massive upgrade defensively.
