The NFL has seen several of their star players get their homes broken into and robbed while they are playing games this season, with the latest victim being Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. As a result, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has decided to take some drastic measures to protect his home.
On the field, Tagovailoa and the Dolphins are focused on doing whatever they can to stay in the AFC Wild Card hunt. But off the field, Tagovailoa and his fellow teammates are working on protecting themselves amid a warning from the NFL to increase the security of their homes as their players continue to get targeted in home burglaries.
After seeing Burrow's house get broken into during the Bengals Monday Night Football contest against the Dallas Cowboys, Tagovailoa revealed on Wednesday that he has hired armed security to protect his house after seeing this string of robberies, warning anyone to think twice before trying to go to his house.
"I have personal security," Tagovailoa said at his press conference on Wednesday. "Just let that be known, they are armed. So I hope if you decide to go to my house, you think twice."
It's concerning to see so many big name athletes get their homes broken into, so Tagovailoa is upping his security in an effort to keep himself and his family safe. And given all the incidents we have seen his fellow NFL stars endure, there's no doubt that this is a prudent move that other players should be making as well.
With his security issues taken care of, Tagovailoa can focus on helping the Dolphins find their way into the postseason. They kept themselves alive with a thrilling 32-26 overtime victory over the New York Jets in Week 15, but they have a two-game gap to close on the Denver Broncos with just four contests left on the year.
Whether or not they can catch Denver remains to be seen, but it will certainly be easier said than done. They will be looking to pick up another win when they take on the Houston Texans in their upcoming Week 15 matchup.
