Tottenham are being linked with a move for a free-scoring Premier League winger.
Tottenham are said to be interested in a deal to sign a current Premier League winger as they look to strengthen their ranks. Spurs are currently as low as 11th place in the Premier League, sitting five points off fifth place after their defeat to Chelsea last weekend.
Ange Postecoglou is now coming under pressure as the top four and top six threaten to pull away from his side. Spurs have struggled for consistency all season, and it seems as though they might need to strengthen further if they have ambitions of bridging the gap.
Tottenham have made some big attacking signings over recent years, with Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson the big investments, while Timo Werner has arrived on loan, and James Maddison’s big-money arrival can also be regarded as an attacking reinforcement, albeit he is a midfielder.
The reinforcements may not end there, though, with talk of interest in Brentford forward Bryan Mbuemo. Mbuemo has been a hit with the Bees, scoring nine and assisting two across all competitions already this season.
The 25-year-old has been key to an impressive start to the season from Brentford, and he was equally valuable last season. The Cameroon international is said to be valued as highly as £50million, but according to The Boot Room, Spurs are interested in a deal.
It’s not clear how much Brentford would actually demand for a sale, but Mbuemo is under contract until 2026 with the West London club holding an option to extend the deal by a further year. That puts them in complete control of any negotiations, unless the forward pushes for a move, which seems unlikely given his current form and stature at the club,
Given the price of a deal, it’s likely any transfer would need to take place in the summer rather than January, with Brentford not likely to risk derailing their season. Though, even Brentford boss Frank himself has admitted Mbuemo is on his way to bigger and better things. He said recently: “He's added another layer this year. I'm convinced one day he'll play for a bigger club. I'd definitely buy him if I were at a bigger club. That said, he's very happy here."
