Kylian Mbappé Suffers Major Setback in €55M Wage Dispute with PSG

Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain are in the middle of an ugly separation. The Frenchman left the French giants this past summer as a free agent to join Real Madrid, but the chapter between the two parties isn’t over.

PSG and Mbappé have been caught in a €55 million legal dispute in recent months. Recently, the Professional Football League (LFP) and the French Football Federation (FFF) had earlier ruled that PSG must pay that amount to Mbappé for unpaid wages and bonuses.

The club had ten days, starting October 25, to submit a request for review to the FFF executive committee. However, they missed the deadline by a day, resulting in the FFF rejecting their request.

PSG had to either pay the €55 million to Mbappé or take the case to court, with the latter seeming the more likely option as they prepare to challenge their former striker and his advisors.

JournalistBen Jacobs reported that Mbappé’s attempt to claim €55 million in unpaid bonuses from PSG has been dismissed by the LFP’s Disciplinary Committee, which deemed his request “inadmissible.”

Mbappé had sought to enforce payment, but PSG had already taken the case to the Paris Judicial Court, asserting that the €55 million were legally waived following a verbal agreement with the player.

PSG are prepared to escalate the matter further, even to the Labour Court if necessary. While the club have no intention of paying the full amount, they are open to mediation to resolve the dispute.

“We are very pleased that the Disciplinary Committee has decided not to sanction Paris Saint-Germain as the player had requested,” a PSG spokesperson said. “By declaring his request inadmissible, the Disciplinary Committee hasput an end to this long-running sequence…

“If the playerunfortunately persists in failing tohonour his commitments and pursuing this dispute before the Conseil des Prud’hommes in a way that is incomprehensible and damaging, both for himself and for French football, the Club is preparedto fully expose the situation before the competent court.”
