Leon, 17 until April, broke into the Cerro Porteno first team in the summer, scoring on debut against CS Ameliano on Aug. 1. Rojas says Leon will make the move, becoming Man United’s first Paraguayan player, at the start of the new league season.

He’s made 19 appearances for Cerro Porteno, scoring twice.

Cerro have won 34 Primera Division titles in Paraguay and are led by former Roma forward Juan Iturbe and ex-Austin FC forward Ceciliano Dominguez.

Newcastle winger Miguel Almiron got his start in Cerro’s academy and longtime Serie A midfielder Edgar Baretto is also a Cerro export.
