The 2024 season is over for Tyler Nubin, one of the promising rookies the New York Giants hope helps them build a better future. Nubin, the Giants’ second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday with an ankle injury suffered Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
The Giants signed cornerback Divaad Wilson off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad to fill Nubin’s roster spot.
The loss of Nubin is the latest blow to an injury-ravaged Giants team that is 2-11 and has lost eight straight games. Left tackle Andrew Thomas, tight end Theo Johnson, star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, edge defender Azeez Ojulari, reserve cornerback Tre Hawkins and reserve defensive lineman Armon Watts are among Giants players on injured reserve, many of them placed there within the last couple of weeks.
Nubin has started every game for the Giants this season and leads the team in tackles with 98. That is also tops among rookies.
The Giants also announced on Wednesday that starting quarterback Drew Lock has heel and elbow injuries, is in a walking boot, and will be replaced by Tommy Devito as the starter on Sunday vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
With several other players sidelined or trying to play through injuries, the Giants posted a massive injury report on Wednesday listing 19 players:
