Detroit Pistons owner provides holiday party for Voices for Children

**FLINT, Mich. (WNEM)** - More than a hundred children recovering from past abuse were full of Christmas spirit on Wednesday, Dec. 11, thanks to the owner of the Detroit Pistons and Flint native Tom Gores and his family.

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the Pistons' cheerleaders, and mascot Hooper were at the Voices for Children Advocacy Center in Flint for a holiday party complete with hot chocolate, pizza, presents, and much more.

Claudnyse Holloman, the president and CEO of Voices for Children, said Tuesday was special because the kids could be kids.

“I see kids coming in here crying. I see kids working through their trauma in therapy. I see kids that have had medical exams. But today, there’s not sadness, it’s just joy. There’s not sadness, there’s happiness. It’s not sadness, there’s laughing. Kids are going to get the toys that they have asked for, the toys that they wanted, and that’s what makes today such a beautiful, beautiful day,” Holloman said.

There was also a photo booth there giving some of the families their first opportunity for pictures together.

It’s the fourth year Gores and his family have provided the party at Voices for Children.
