Jurgen Klopp has no intention of returning to soccer management - but the prospect of taking the reins of the Germany national team could be too enticing to resist.
This is according to his agent Marc Kosicke, who recently reaffirmed his client's desire to stay away from the dugout. In January, after announcing his departure from Liverpool during the summer, Klopp stated that his time at Anfield would be his last managerial stint.
While that is likely to remain the case, Kosicke believes the Germany job might be an offer Klopp couldn't refuse. "Jurgen has no desire at all to be a coach at the moment," he told the Abendblatt podcast, as quoted by BILD. "Life is dynamic. And if it were to come to that [the Germany job], that would certainly be another aspect that I wouldn't turn down."
Klopp took on the role of head of global soccer at Red Bull in October, a group that owns several clubs, including Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. The move was met with controversy due to Klopp's history with Borussia Dortmund and Leipzig's circumvention of German soccer's cherished 50+1 rule, which ensures that clubs are majority-owned by supporters.
However, Kosicke maintains that Klopp is undeterred by the scrutiny and has been impressed by the setup and ambition at the Red Bull group. As he always says: If you try to please everyone every day, you will fail every day," Kosicke added.
"He has to find the right job for himself after 25 years on the sidelines. And this somewhat higher-level work on a global level in a sports environment that offers so many opportunities is simply exciting. And that's why we decided that the consequences are definitely worth bearing.
"Jurgen has always spoken positively about Red Bull football. He simply appreciates the work that is done there, because he also transferred some players from Salzburg and Leipzig to Liverpool, who always fit perfectly into his game system."
