Dusan Vlahovic sends Arsenal transfer reminder as Man City woes deepen

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic was back among the goals on Wednesday night as the Italian club beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Champions League.

The Serbian striker was once a man in demand having caught the attention of a host of Europe's top clubs while at Fiorentina. At that time, Arsenal were thought to be weighing up a move for the physically imposing centre-forward but they would be dashed in their attempts to sign him.

Vlahovic would choose to remain in Italy and join Juve where he has enjoyed a good career to date. This season he has managed nine goals in 17 appearances with his latest coming against City.

He opened the scoring on the 53rd minute as his close-range header had too much on it for Ederson to keep out. Weston McKennie's acrobatic finish would seal the three points for the Old Lady but it was Vlahovic who may have left a lasting impression on Arsenal.

Reports in Italy recently speculated that Juve may look to sell their striker either in January or the summer if they cannot get him to agree a new deal on lower wages. Vlahovic is thought to be the highest paid player in Serie A and the Turin club are attempting to cut their cloth accordingly.

Such speculation is good news for Arsenal who are in search of a striker. Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres has been the name on everyone's lips recently considering his goal-scoring form in Portugal but with Manchester United now favourites for his signature, Mikel Arteta may have to look elsewhere.

Currently, Vlahovic has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Juventus.
