Lamine Yamal breaks down chemistry with Ferran and Raphinha – ‘We understand each other’

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal had a significant role to play after the win over Borussia Dortmund, as he was one of the players chosen for the anti-doping control.

Following this, he shared his thoughts on the game, expressing his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance.

He emphasised the challenging nature of the match, highlighting the difficulty of the ground and the team’s effort to stay consistent throughout.

“It was a very difficult ground, the team was very good until the end,” he said.

Despite the opposition equalising twice, he pointed out that the team demonstrated resilience and seized their chances effectively.

“We had clear chances, they equalised on the two occasions we took the lead, but in the end, we have to know how to resist and when we have the opportunity to score,” he added.

Learning from the Betis draw

As the standout player of the match, Yamal drew attention to the team’s progress since their encounter against Betis. He noted that they learned a valuable lesson from that match, especially about managing results during critical moments.

This time, the team made the necessary adjustments, which allowed them to maintain their advantage until the final whistle.

“After the game against Betis, it is something we had to learn. When we put Ferri in control we should have known how to defend the result and today we could,” he explained.

Chemistry with Ferran Torres

Yamal also praised the performance of Ferran Torres, whom he assisted for the second game in a row. Their understanding on the pitch has been exceptional, with Yamal assisting Torres for key goals in consecutive matches.

Reflecting on their chemistry, he mentioned a similar play against Betis and expressed happiness for Torres and his two crucial goals in this match.

“We understand each other very well. At the Benito Villamarin, it was also a very similar action. I’m happy for him and for his two goals.”

On Raphinha

In addition to assisting Torres, Yamal also came close to setting up another goal in the early stages of the game. He delivered a brilliant pass with the outside of his foot to Raphinha, but the Brazilian was unable to convert the opportunity.

Yamal shared his thoughts on this moment, acknowledging that using the outside of his foot has become a natural part of his game.

While he doesn’t intentionally practise it during training, it has become a reliable skill that helps him contribute to the team’s success.

“I told Rafa that he had it (laughs). It’s a resource that is working very well for me and that I will continue to do if I continue to help the team. It’s something natural, it’s not that I’m always practising it in training,” he added.

Yamal’s performance and contributions continue to reflect his growing maturity and impact on the field, proving once again why he is such a valuable player for the team.
