Amid all of their plans, the club has once again entered the conversation for a talent who has been on Liverpool's radar for over seven years.
The Reds were even close to signing him back in the January transfer window of last season but he instead opted to move to Belgium.
Liverpool back in for Momodou Lamin Sonko
The Swedish winger almost moved to Anfield earlier this year holding serious talks with representatives of Liverpool over a potential move to the club.
In the end, however, it was Gent who won the race for Sonko with the Belgian club being seen as a better stepping stone for the teenage talent.
However, Liverpool's interest has not faded in Sonko. Anfield Watch understands the club made it clear they would continue to monitor his progress in Gent.
After all, Sonko is a player who has been on the club's radar since 2017 when he first attended a trial at Liverpool's academy.
Anfield Watch understands Liverpool have been very actively pursuing the Scandinavian market as well with Sonko being one of the players who the club has monitored heavily.
Sonko's start to life in Gent has been slow with the youngster adjusting and acclimatising to his new situation. Arriving mid-season made things difficult for him.
However, after Wouter Vrancken was appointed as manager of the club in the summer, Sonko's fortunes have changed.
He is now starting to establish himself as a regular for Gent once again and thriving.
The 19-year-old scored a brace in the cup for Gent back in October and then netted his first league goal earlier this month.
And now that Sonko is finally playing regularly and catching the eye, Anfield Watch understands Liverpool are back at the table with the club's scouts regularly attending games once again to monitor him in action.

Liverpool scouts very active in Belgium
Over the last few years, the Belgian Pro League is a competition that Liverpool have extensively scouted.
The Reds first monitored Victor Osimhen when he was playing in Belgium. Jonathan David, who played for Gent, was also spotted playing in the division.
Meanwhile, more recently Antonio Nusa, at Club Brugge, was another name Liverpool followed extensively as he started to make his mark in Belgium prior to his move to RB Leipzig.
And as we exclusively reported another player on Liverpool's radar from Belgium was Bilal El Khannouss, who the Reds continue to monitor.
Now it's Sonko who seems to be heavily followed and it remains to be seen whether he does enough to convince the club's scouts to make a move for him.
