Wolves look to be ready to back Gary O’Neil despite pressure having cranked up to the max recently.
Wolves lost their latest Premier League game 2-1 against West Ham United at the London Stadium, and many expected there to be a big announcement made on Tuesday.
But it never came, and there were instead claims that O’Neil will be given the game against Ipswich Town this weekend.
That has incensed a lot of fans, many of whom have lost patience with the board over the manager situation.
O’Neil has pretty much lost the faith of the fanbase now, with even his most ardent supporters struggling to make a case for him to remain.
But the players are still backing O’Neil, and Matheus Cunha’s view of him is crystal clear.

O’Neil may have lost most of the fans by now, but crucially for him, he still has the dressing room.
He’s on borrowed time right now and the likelihood is that Wolves would have replaced him by now had there been someone actually willing to take the job.

But O’Neil will continue to plug away, and he’ll hope the likes of Cunha can someone get Wolves out of this mess.
Cunha has given a new interview and touched on O’Neil amid the huge pressure he is under, praising the Englishman both personally and professionally.
As quoted by Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan, he said: “Football is like life, people give you recognition when your results are better than but when the results don’t come – it’s easy to point the finger.
“He’s been an unbelievable person and manager to me – I will to the end show my best to help him.”
There’s something to be said for O’Neil’s man-management skills
As much as he has struggled this season, it’s crystal clear that these players love O’Neil.
There is something to be said for the way he conducts himself and commands respect from his players, even during the really tough times.
But ultimately, O’Neil – as much as there are several other factors at play behind Wolves’ struggles – just hasn’t got the results he’s needed to.
It’s a great shame, because he speaks well and always has done and is a likeable person.
But with Wolves in such a perilous position it’s just hard to back him anymore as the man to take the club forward, even if the club are currently sticking with him for the time being.
