With Christmas just around the corner, Liverpool are still embroiled in arduous contract negotiations with three of their star players.
The Reds need to get a move on with things, as all three will be able to openly speak to European clubs about joining in just over two weeks’ time.
In the meantime, sporadic updates have been surfacing about the situations of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
For Salah, there have been recent reports that Liverpool have now offered the Egyptian an initial contract.
There has been no word on how Mo has responded to the offer from the Liverpool owners, but given that nothing has seemingly been signed yet, perhaps that is answer enough.
In the meantime, Reds supporters have been desperate to know whether their Egyptian King is staying or going. And as a fan himself, former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher has admitted that he asked his old club for inside information.

Jamie Carragher asks for Mohamed Salah news
Carragher has been a high-profile commentator on Salah’s future over the past few weeks.
The Liverpool legend came out to boldly call the 32-year-old ‘selfish’ after his very public comments that he was yet to receive a contract offer from the Reds.

As Andy Robertson confirmed in November, Carragher’s comments had not made him popular with the Liverpool squad.
Nevertheless, the former defender stuck by his stance on the latest episode of the Stick To Football podcast and also revealed what had happened when he asked Liverpool for ‘information’ on the Salah contract.

“Me personally, I think he should stay on the same money, and give him a two year deal,” Carragher said.
“Now, the club might be offering him one he might want three, I don’t know what it is, and I’ve tried to get information from the club, I’ll be honest with you, because I knew I was going to get asked about it. But the club are not giving anything.
“There’s always this game and the club might feed something to a local journalist that he wants this much. The club have not said a word, no one knows a word and rightly so, that’s the way it should be done.”
Liverpool stay tight-lipped on Salah
In fairness to Liverpool, they have been excellent at keeping a tight ship during each of these negotiations.
From a fan point of view, that can obviously be frustrating, especially when things are getting so close to the deadline.
But for Richard Hughes, Michael Edwards and everyone else involved, you have to commend the way they have dealt with things in private.
This will no doubt be appreciated by each of players, with the club doing their utmost to remain dignified and respectful of each situation.
When the time is right we will get all the information possible regarding what has really gone on with Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold. But for now, Carragher, like the rest of us, is just going to have to wait and see.
