La Liga club Getafe will look to sign 27-year-old Spanish defender Jesus Vallejo on loan from Real Madrid until the end of the 2024/25 season in the January transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jesus Vallejo is the subject of interest from Getafe. The Azulones will look to reinforce the central defensive unit in the January transfer window. The Real Madrid outcast has thus emerged as a target, with Getafe approaching Los Blancos regarding a loan deal for the 27-year-old forgotten man.
Jesus Vallejo and his Real Madrid predicament
Jesus Vallejo has endured a horrific spell since joining Real Madrid from Real Zaragoza nearly a decade ago. The Spaniard was among the most highly-rated prospects in his homeland in 2015 but has barely made his mark during his ill-fated stint with Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old forgotten man has embarked on several loan spells away from Real Madrid, with Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Granada (thrice) securing his services. Vallejo’s latest stint with Granada ended earlier this year, but he remained with Real Madrid for the 2024/25 season.
That has been a disastrous decision, with the Spanish centre-back managing only ten minutes of game time in one La Liga outings thus far this term. With Vallejo’s career going nowhere, he must leave Real Madrid next year. Getafe might come to his rescue, albeit temporarily, with the Azulones eyeing a loan move until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Move across La Liga on the horizon?
Getafe’s interest in Jesus Vallejo is understandable. While Jose Bordalas has five centre-backs in his squad, he wants another central defender next year. So, the Real Madrid outcast has emerged as a viable target for the Azulones as they look to move clear of the relegation battle in La Liga.
They have already approached Real Madrid regarding a loan move for Vallejo until the end of the 2024/25 season. With Getafe working on closing the deal quickly, an agreement might be on the cards. However, Getafe might not be the only La Liga club pursuing the Spaniard’s signature.
Recent reports have linked the 27-year-old forgotten man with Rayo Vallecano. It will be interesting to see if Rayo Vallecano can foil Getafe’s plans or if the Spanish defender temporarily leaves Real Madrid to move to Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
