The Detroit Lions have not beaten the Buffalo Bills since 2006, but have an excellent chance to do just that on Sunday at Ford Field in the Motor City.
The Lions will enter Sunday's game with a 12-1 record on an 11-game winning streak, while the Bills lost to the Rams this past weekend after seven straight wins.
On Wednesday, Lions coach Dan Campbell had complimentary words for a player most believe will be a marked man this Sunday: Bills MVP candidate Josh Allen.
"He's big, he's strong, he's fast, he's pretty explosive and he's competitive" Campbell said according to Lions reporter Nolan Bianchi.
"It's what he's got inside him...He's the ultimate competitor...he's fearless," Campbell added, "and that's why those guys play the way they do for him."
The Bills rank number 11 in passing offense this season while Allen is second on the team in rushing behind James Cook with 416 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
Allen's running ability is a new wrinkle the Lions' depleted defense will be forced to contend with this weekend, amid reports of the potential returns of top defenders Alim McNeill, Josh Paschal, Levi Onwuzurike, DJ Reader and others.
"It has been challenging. I'm not some damn rocket scientist or something, I'm a football coach" Lions linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard said about the difficulty of coaching around so many injuries in Detroit.
