According to academy-focused journalist Lewis Bower, Liverpool FC have signed U16 centre-back Lucas Clarke from Manchester City.
Since Brexit came into effect, Liverpool have focused on bringing the top English prospects, with Harvey Elliott, Ben Doak, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha amongst the standouts who have come through to the Academy at Kirkby from other clubs’ academies. The latest move sees the Reds snatch up such a prospect from one of their biggest rivals. The 16-year-old is a left-footed defender who will now join up with the Reds’ under-16 squad,
The player himself also announced the move on his Instagram:
Clarke will be hoping to develop and make a breakthrough for the senior squad in the coming years. Becoming a senior squad regular like Curtis Jones or Elliott is surely the goal, and he can take inspiration from Nyoni, Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas and James McConnell, who all managed to make it to the fringe of the senior squad last season and contributed. Welcome to Liverpool lad, we hope to see plenty of you! YNWA.
