Kazakhstan-Russia relations on an upward trend – President Tokayev

assym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Valentina Matvienko’s visit is another landmark event both from the viewpoint of strengthening the interparliamentary ties, and further expansion of the entire Kazakh-Russian multifaceted strategic partnership.

“The relations between our countries are on an upward trend. President Vladimir Putin has recently paid a state visit to our country, which gave a serious impetus to further development of the strategic partnership, alliance between our countries. I am very optimistic about the future of our interaction,” the Kazakh President said.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, interparliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in all these processes. He highlighted that parliament deputies greatly contribute to further promotion of the two countries’ mutually beneficial cooperation.

Valentina Matvienko thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the meeting and said she is pleased to visit Kazakhstan as a head of parliamentary delegation.

She conveyed warm greetings from President of Russia Vladimir Putin who highly evaluates the results of his recent visit to Astana.

“Indeed, the visit was very productive and fruitful. The most important thing is that our cooperation, which is gaining paces, is mutually beneficial and mutually respectful. Thanks to the efforts of the heads of state of Kazakhstan and Russia, bilateral ties have reached an unprecedented level. Whatever area we take: mutual trade, investments, major projects in industry, energy, cooperation in agriculture, these are the real examples of a strong strategic partnership, an alliance between our countries,” Valentina Matvienko said.

The sides also discussed the pressing issues of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
