That he did. He went on to play 69 times for the club, scoring 11 goals – including a run of six in eight games at the start of the 2009/10 season – but soon the club’s financial difficulties became too much, and he was sold to Wigan Athletic in January 2010.
After three-and-a-half seasons at Wigan, Moses moved to Chelsea where won a Premier League title, an FA Cup and two Europa Leagues, featuring for Liverpool and Inter Milan amongst others during a storied career.
His career is still going strong, and he returned to English football with Luton Town in September, where he has since made 13 appearances this season, scoring once.
At international level, Moses has earned 38 caps for Nigeria, featuring at two World Cups.
Not bad for a boy thrust into South London life at just 11-years-old.
