Jamie Carragher is worried by Manchester City's performances
Manchester City are in a crisis and Pep Guardiola doesn’t have the answers to their problems, according to Jamie Carragher.
City were beaten 2-0 by Juventus on Wednesday night to put their Champions League campaign in huge doubt. Ederson’s struggles continued as he failed to keep out a header by Dusan Vlahovic before Weston McKennie was left completely unmarked to volley in a second for the home side.
The result means City are all but certain to miss out on automatic qualification for the last-16 of the competition, with Guardiola’s side 22nd in the table after two wins from their opening six games. City have now won just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions and have lost six of their last seven away games.
Carragher was left stunned by their performance in Turin as Juventus ground out a 12th clean sheet in 21 matches this season. “You can't believe what you're seeing! I mean, this is a massive crisis. This was a crisis two or three weeks ago,” Carragher said on CBS Sports.

“The greatest and most successful manager, possibly, of all-time... he's got no answers for it right now! He's tried different systems, players in different positions...
“He's never gone through this before, so he's got no experience in this situation. Nothing to fall back on, because he's been so successful in the past! I think there's a lot of coaches around the world looking at Pep with a wry smile and thinking: ‘Finally! Pep Guardiola is going through something that we've all been through at some stage in our career!’”
City have two group-stage matches remaining in the Champions League this season, with a trip to Paris Saint-Germain followed by a home match against Club Brugge. They are five points behind the top eight, who qualify automatically for the knockout stages, and just three places above the elimination zone.
Pep Guardiola is enduring the worst spell of his time at Manchester City
Ilkay Gundogan believes that low on confidence and a “mental issue” was to blame for City’s loss of rhythm. “In crucial moments, at the moment, we are always doing the wrong things,” the City midfielder said.
But Guardiola was typically defensive of his side. “I’m not agreeing with Ilkay,” he said. “Of course it’s tough. Except one or two games in this period that were not good, the rest we played good.”
The City boss admitted that automatic qualification was now likely beyond his side, with a play-off spot now in their sights instead. “It's the target,” Guardiola said. “We need one point, three points. Go to Paris to try to do it and then the last game at home. This is the situation because of the game against Feyenoord. Feyenoord, when it was 3-0 with 15 minutes left, created the problems.
“When we turn this around we will not forget this period. We will appreciate more what we have done and what we will do in the future.” He added: “I question myself in the good and bad moments. The dressing room is stable. You have to stand up. What can we do? Feel sorry for ourselves? It's life, it happens.”
