Enzo Maresca has explained why he feels Chelsea’s comeback victory over Tottenham was “probably the perfect win.”
The Blues continued their strong start to the season on Sunday as they came from 2-0 down to beat Spurs 4-3 in an incredible game.
The win saw Chelsea move just four points behind leaders Liverpool, although the Reds have a game in hand, whilst they are now two points clear of Arsenal in third and four ahead of Manchester City in fourth.
Maresca describes Tottenham as the perfect win
The Blues are very much on course to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League, which is undoubtedly their main priority.
Chelsea have lost just twice in 15 league games this season, and only once since the opening day as they continue to exceed people’s expectations.
It was looking like the Blues were heading to a third league defeat of the campaign after a disastrous opening 15 minutes in which they found themselves 2-0 down, but they rallied with Jadon Sancho pulling a goal back in the first half, which impressed Paul Merson.

Two penalties from Cole Palmer and a great strike from Enzo Fernandez completed the comeback in the second half as the Blues made it four league wins in a row.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s game against Astana in the Conference League on Thursday Maresca reflected on the Spurs game and described it as probably the perfect win.
“It was probably the perfect win, and the reason why is because, after ten minutes it was not the ideal picture for us 2-0 down, so you have to be mentally strong,” he told TNT Sports as cited on X.com.
“You have to continue to stick to the plan because, probably, after ten minutes, being 2-0 down, you can think that the plan is not the correct one.

“It was because of our two mistakes, but the players continued in the same way and, in the end, I think we completely deserved to win the game.”
The Blues showed great mentality and belief in their ability to come from two goals down and that’s a big difference between this season and the last one.
