Kaizer Chiefs news: Durban loading, three players axed, Man United comparisons

Kaizer Chiefs are heading for a change of scenery while a trio of players face the axe in their next match.

Kaizer Chiefs aim to turn their fortunes around

Durban is the next home stop for Chiefs after they’ve negotiated an away clash against TS Galaxy.

Nasreddine Nabi ill hope that a change of scenery brings about a change of fortunes. His side lost 2-0 to Polokwane last time out, leaving them 10 points adrift of the title pace already after only eight games. They’re only six points ahead of rock-bottom Richards Bay. The Glamour Boys face Chippa United on 29 December, Golden Arrows on 12 January and Sekhukhune on 19 January, all at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Before that, they travel to TS Galaxy on Monday 16 December.

Chiefs over-reliant on youngsters?

20-year-old Mduduzi Shabalala struggled with inconsistency and a lack of game time during patches of 2023-2024 but this campaign has seen him come into his own in the number 10 role. With three goals and an assist in eight games in the league, he’s one of Chiefs’ most productive players. Like Rushwin Dortley, he’s been an ever-present in the league having played all eight Betway Premiership clashes so far.

Predicted XI vs Galaxy

With Reeve Frosler still out injured, Nabi will be relieved to have Dillan Solomons back after he sat out suspended against Polokwane. We could also see the likes of Gaston Sirino (recently in hot water with the club) and Ashley Du Preez come out of the side. Mduduzi Shabalala is one of the shining lights of their campaign so far with three goals and an assist in the league.

Could we see a trio of changes?
