Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat were considered the perfect fit when the superstar forward joined the franchise in 2019. Butler is known as a hard worker, and player focused on winning, while the Heat is a no-nonsense franchise that values those virtues. But it now appears that the two sides are heading their separate ways.

According to ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania, the Heat is willing to let Butler walk if they receive a satisfying offer. The player wouldn’t mind moving as well as long as he lands with a contender.

Several teams are already circling around Butler, including the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Phoenix Suns.

Butler and the Heat enjoyed a successful run in the past five seasons, making two NBA Finals appearances and one Conference Finals. However, the relationship between the two sides soured midway through the 2023-24 campaign when the Heat didn’t want to give Butler a new extension.

Miami was likely cautious due to Butler’s age – he turned 35 in September – and the fact that he missed extended time for two straight seasons due to health issues. However, they now face the possibility of losing him for nothing in the summer, considering Butler has a $52 million player option for 2025-26.

Butler is averaging 19.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season. The Heat are fifth in the East with 12-10 after winning seven out of their last 10 games.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
