Sjoeke Nusken was delighted to mark her 50th appearance for Chelsea as she described the club as the perfect place for her to be.
The 23-year-old came on as a half-time substitute in Wednesday night's emphatic 6-1 win over FC Twente at Stamford Bridge. Nusken was one of six goal scorers with Catarina Macario, Oriane Jean-Francois, Mayra Ramirez, Erin Cuthbert, and Eve Perisset also finding the back of the net.
We have now won each of our five Champions League group matches this season and sit three points clear at the top of Group B ahead of our final match of this stage against second-placed Real Madrid in Spain next Tuesday.
And Nusken was pleased to celebrate an individual milestone in the midweek victory, as she said: 'Wow! Fifty already. That's so cool. Last season I came here and I've played 50 times, it's amazing to be here at such a special club.
'I'm very happy. This team is perfect for me to develop myself and to keep moving forward.'
The German midfielder marked a half-century of appearances by scoring her side's fifth goal against FC Twente. It means she has netted three times in our last two games. And after scoring 12 times last term, Nusken hopes to maintain her form in front of goal.
'It's really good,' Nusken added. 'It's always good to score a goal, so I'm very happy.'
Nusken and Mayra Ramirez have made a habit of coming up with a unique celebration when one of them has scored this season, but in last night's game, the players were not on the pitch at the same time when they respectively got on the scoresheet. However, that didn't stop them from trying!
'I didn't get to actually celebrate with her, but I rang the phone asking: Where was Mayra?' Nusken told us about her celebration. 'And she looked around looking for me.'
It was a dominant display from the Blues against Twente with Sonia Bompastor's side putting themselves in pole position ahead of next's final group stage match away to Real Madrid.
When the two sides meet it will be a battle for top spot in Group B, with Chelsea guaranteed first place if we avoid defeat in Spain. But, Nusken says, there will be no complacency from her side even if a point will be enough to achieve our goal.
'It's another game and we want to win every single game,' Nusken said. 'We focus on every game and we want to win. It's important to be confident and we will give it everything.'
