Bahrain Celebrates National Day, 50 Years Of Diplomatic Ties With Malaysia

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Malaysia hosted a celebration on Tuesday to mark Bahrain’s National Day and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Malaysia hosted a celebration on Tuesday to mark Bahrain’s National Day and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Malaysia.

In a statement on Thursday, the embassy described the event as a reflection of Bahrain’s proud heritage, visionary leadership, and commitment to fostering global partnerships.

The event featured a special presentation on Bahrain’s history and the key milestones in Bahrain-Malaysia relations.

Guests also enjoyed a traditional Bahraini performance, “Al-Jalwa”, which showcased the nation’s rich culture, along with an exhibition highlighting Bahrain’s heritage and development journey.

Distinguished guests included Malaysia's Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick and Bahrain's Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

"The event highlighted Bahrain’s recent achievements, including its leadership in economic freedom in the Middle East and North Africa and its global advancements in digital innovation.

"The celebration also underscored the enduring relationship between Bahrain and Malaysia, which was established in 1974," the embassy statement said.

Bahrain’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Waleed Khalifa Al-Manea, in his remarks at the event, highlighted the shared values and mutual respect that have defined the partnership between the two nations, and expressed optimism about expanding future collaboration across various sectors.

In his remarks, Waleed reaffirmed Bahrain’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, stressing the necessity of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international resolutions.

He also called for an urgent resolution to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, advocating for the protection of civilians, the release of hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected.

The ambassador also emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to advancing Arab and international cooperation particularly through hosting summits and supporting initiatives that focus on education and healthcare for communities in conflict zones.

Waleed also reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to promoting dialogue, sustainable peace, and human rights, alongside its principled stance on the Palestinian cause.
