‘They’ve got to’: Arsenal told they should be first in line for Utd ace hailed as ‘one of the…

Amidst reports of Manchester United looking to part ways with Marcus Rashford, Arsenal have been urged to try and strike up a deal.

Indeed, numerous reports this week have claimed that the Red Devils harbour concerns over Rashford’s stagnant form and off-pitch issues. In regards to the latter, he was notoriously spotted partying and drinking heavily midweek in Belfast at the beginning of the year.

The forward, hailed as‘one of the best in the world’ by teammate Andre Onana, proceeded to report ill for Friday’s training session and was consequently dropped from the starting XI of United’s FA Cup tie vs Newport County that weekend.

On the field, Rashford’s struggles have seen him come under the microscope for the last season and a half. His career-best, 30-goal campaign in 2022/2023 culminated with him being awarded a lucrative five-year deal while becoming one of United’s highest earners on £325,000 per week.

He followed up the stellar season by mustering up a measly eight goals in 43 appearances across 2023/2024 and is now only one goal away from matching that tally in 20 fewer appearances this term.

The last time that Rashford was able to add to his England caps was nine months ago when he made a 15-minute cameo in a friendly defeat to Brazil. He was overlooked by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024 and was disregarded entirely by interim manager Lee Carsley during his short tenure. It remains to be seen if Thomas Tuchel will restore the 27-year-old to the Three Lions setup when he takes the reins in 2025.

United is all that Rashford has ever known, having joined the club at the age of seven. With that in mind, you’d imagine it’d be relatively unfathomable for him to join a direct Premier League rival such as Arsenal – but that won’t stop pundits from encouraging him to.

“Reports today that Marcus Rashford may be moved on by Manchester United,”Joe Cole said on TNT Sports last night.

“He’d be a hell of a signing! That’s where they have to shop, Arsenal – on the left side. They’ve got to shop for the very, very top players to improve this team.”

Danny Murphy also echoed such a sentiment after learning of the rumours. He told the talkSPORT panel yesterday: “Playing in a team that’s so settled and so confident and competent, there is a case that his end product would get much betterbecause Arsenal are really dominant in games. There would be some people who would take Rashford over [Gabriel] Martinelli.”
