In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Relebohile Mofokeng’s father, Sechaba, opened up about the excitement and shock surrounding his son's link to Spanish giants FC Barcelona, as first reported by the Siya crew.
While the young star’s performances for Orlando Pirates have caught the eye, Sechaba admitted that the news of Barcelona's interest left him stunned.
“To be honest, I was shocked when I first heard it. Rele and Barcelona! Those two things are on different planets in different worlds. But I said, 'if you are doing well, good things will come to you',” Sechaba told the Siya crew.

Despite his initial surprise, Sechaba is hopeful that his son’s talent will be recognised and that this dream move could materialise. He expressed his belief that if Mofokeng does secure a contract with Barcelona, he will shine in the team within just three months.
“If it happens that he gets a contract there, I will give him only three months and he will be shining in the FC Barcelona team,” said Sechaba with confidence.
Mofokeng’s father also revealed that his son has heard the news of Barcelona’s interest, but he has encouraged him to remain focused and continue working hard.
“I told him if you are doing well, you will have more teams looking at you – but you have to do more. You haven’t done anything yet. Just show them what you are made of and they will realise we have gold in Mzansi,” Sechaba added.
