CHERRIES duo Marcos Senesi and Marcus Tavernier are set for spells on the sidelines through injury in a blow to Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth squad.

Senesi, who missed both the midweek home game against Spurs and the trip to Ipswich on Sunday, has undergone a successful surgery on a quadriceps injury.

He picked this up during the win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and, after further assessment following the Wolves game, it was decided that it would need surgery.

The 27-year-old Argentine will now be supported by the club through a rehabilitation process in the months to come.

Both players have played important roles for Iraola’s side so far this season.

Senesi had started all but two games before picking up his injury, while Tavernier has played at least some part in every game so far this season, starting in 13 league games and coming off the bench in two.

The pair are the latest Bournemouth players to pick up long-term injuries, with Alex Scott, Julian Araujo and Luis Sinisterra all currently out of action.
