Jack Campbell Reveals Dan Campbell’s “Sick” Nickname for Detroit Lions’ Defense

The Detroit Lions' defense has been beset by a rash of injuries in recent weeks, a challenge that was made clear in last Thursday's 34-31 win over Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers as Aaron Glenn's unit struggled at times.

The Lions could get several key players back on that side of the ball against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon as Levi Oruwurzike, Josh Paschal and other key players have been active in practice lately.

On Thursday, Lions linebacker Jack Campbell spilled the beans on a provocative nickname given to the Lions' defense by coach Dan Campbell that Jack Campbell hopes will stick.

"What stuck out with me was after the game, coach Campbell called us the 'Northern Savages,'" Jack Campbell said in a video posted to X.

"And I'm just like, we really are, you've got a bunch of guys out there flying around and having fun so, I'm going to keep going with the 'Northern Savage' thing, I think that thing is sick," he concluded.

"You just got a bunch of hungry guys out there looking to improve and just love the game of football."

The Lions are currently ranked 10th among all NFL defenses, giving up just over 318 yards per game. Only Jim Harbaugh's Los Angeles Chargers (21) and Sean Payton's Denver Broncos (23) have given up less touchdowns than the Lions so far this season, but Detroit's defense will be tested by Allen, James Cook and the Bills' offense on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
