Manchester United scouts have been ‘blown away’ by a £30 million wonderkid who could be perfect for Ruben Amorim’s system.
Ruben Amorim has had a mixed start to life at Manchester United, with two wins in his opening five games.
There have been positives and negatives shown from the team as they look to adapt to the desired playstyle of the 39-year-old.
Players are being assessed to whether they fit into the style and long-term plans of the new head coach.
New signings in several positions are expected, with the most obvious role that needs strengthening being at wingback.
United interested in Patrick Dorgu
According to a report from TBR Football, the Reds could be looking to further strengthen the young first-team core by signing Patrick Dorgu.
Amorim currently has several exciting youthful options in his first-team squad, including the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro.
20-year-old Dorgu has previously been linked with an Old Trafford move and the aforementioned report adds that United remain ‘huge admirers’ of the player.
Dorgu has spent most of his time at Lecce so far this season as a right winger, but he is more well known for his attributes as a left-back.
Mixing those attacking and defensive qualities and the Danish youngster could be a perfect option for Amorim at left wingback.
The report also explains that United have been watching the talented Dorgu closely in recent weeks, with the club’s scouts ‘blown away’ by his talent.
Finally, it was explained that the 20-year-old will likely cost in the region of £30 million, with other top level clubs also interested in him.
Double left-back signings?
This follows on reports claiming that 17-year-old left-back Diego León is on the verge of completing a move to Old Trafford.
The Reds have reportedly agreed a small fee with Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno for the talented teenager.
However, that would be a move for the future, while Dorgu presents an option ready to come straight into the first-team.
His versatility could also be useful for Amorim, who could mould the Danish international to fit into several different roles.
