One European giant is reportedly open to considering a deal for Marcus Rashford after Manchester United set their £40 million price tag.
Marcus Rashford could be available to leave Manchester United in the coming transfer windows if he fails to convince Ruben Amorim of his quality.
The 27-year-old has been underwhelming for United since his staggering 30-goal season in the 2022/23 campaign.
While he has scored three times in Amorim’s first five games, there are still doubts over his long-term future at the club.
Reports have claimed that an exit could be on the cards in the next two transfer windows, with the potential FFP boost from a home-grown sale being attractive to those in charge at Old Trafford.
Generating interest for the player will not be too difficult, especially after dropping his price tag to a generous amount recently.
Barcelona ‘offered’ Marcus Rashford transfer
Now, according to a new report from El Nacional, Rashford could be a potential option for Barcelona, who have been ‘offered’ the player.
The report further explains that the La Liga giants ‘would consider’ a move for the underperforming English winger.
Finally, it was claimed that Barcelona sporting director Deco likes the idea of giving a chance to the 27-year-old, who can be a threatening player when he’s at his best.
This follows on from a report in MailOnline, which revealed that United would consider offers of around £40 million for Rashford.
However, any deal would likely have to wait until the summer window, especially if Barcelona are involved.
The Spanish club still have financial issues and Rashford’s large wage packet would surely be an obstacle they would have to navigate and seems too complicated for the mid-season window.
Will United actually sell Rashford?
It feels like this has been a story in many transfer windows in recent years but nothing has ever materialised. Paris Saint-Germain are well-known admirers and could also be interested in Rashford this coming summer.
But it does feel too soon for anything to be concrete. While there are many players who United are open to moving on, that will undoubtably change if any of them truly thrive under Amorim.
Rashford needs to find his best role under the new head coach and produce consistent performances if he would like to stay.
On the other hand, even he may believe that an exit could be the best thing for his career after spending most of his life at Old Trafford.
It will definitely be a topic to keep a close eye on as the months progress, although any move in January seems unlikely.
