Iranian Activist Sentenced to Two Years for 2022 Protests

A Revolutionary Court in western Sanandaj has sentenced a man arrested during the 2022 protests to two years in prison, with one year of the sentence suspended for three years.

The court convicted Idris Manbari of "forming groups with the intent of disrupting national security."

The new sentence reduces his previous 10-year sentence, which was overturned by the Court of Appeals and sent back for review.

Manbari was initially arrested on December 18, 2022, by security forces at his home in Sanandaj and was released on bail in February of the following year.

The latest ruling upholds the original charge but modifies the punishment.
