James Tarkowski joked that no Everton player wants to kick Ashley Young’s son more than the veteran defender himself.
Young’s son, Tyler, plays for League One outfit Peterborough United and the two could go head-to-head after the two clubs were drawn to play each other in the FA Cup third round.
Tarkowski was speaking about that game live on talkSPORT (9.53am, 12 December) and said there have been a few jokes made about the tie.
“There’s been a few lads asking what position he plays,” the Everton centre-back said.
“There’s no one wants to kick him more than Ash himself, so I think Ash is hoping he plays.”
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Ashley Young could face son Tyler in Everton v Peterborough United
Football has this wonderful way of occasionally throwing up these little quirks and coincidences and its a very heart-warming story that Young, at the age of 39, could come face his teenage son in football’s oldest cup competition.
And, from Tarkowski has said, there is sure to be plenty of friendly family competition with the elder Young apparently keen to give his son a few boots in the shins in what is a banana skin third-round tie for the Toffees.

Obviously, it remains to be seen if both do actually play, there is still a while before we get to that tie and there are never any guarantees in this silly little game we all love so much.
For now, the immediate focus is of course on the Toffees continuing to pick up results in the Premier League after hammering Wolves in their last fixture with the Merseyside derby having been postponed last week.
