Roy Keane confronts a fan in the crowd at Portman Road after receiving abuse
Roy Keane insists he had no intention of having a car park scrap with the Ipswich Town fan who abused him at Portman Road.
Former Manchester United captain Keane - who managed Ipswich between 2009 and 2011 - made headlines after his former club's 1-1 draw in Ruben Amorim's first Premier League match following the post-match incident.
The 53-year-old prematurely left the Sky Sports set on the pitch, where he was working alongside Kelly Cates, Izzy Christensen and Jamie Redknapp as a pundit. Keane had been receiving final instructions from producers as they prepared to return from an ad-break when he left the presentation area, putting down his microphone and venturing over to the home stand from where he had been getting some abuse from some supporters.
During the confrontation that followed, Keane could be heard telling one man: "Wait in the car park, we can have a discussion. I’ll wait for you in the car park."

"Meet me in the car park," the Irishman reiterated before he was ushered back onto the field by a member of Sky's production staff, while Redknapp watched on stunned.
It came as more insults were hurled Keane's way, with one man racing across the upper tier to shout "F*** you Keane"
The incident was brought up in the latest episode of The Overlap, with Ian Wright saying: "I was quite angry about that, Roy."
But Keane insisted: "Don't laugh. I wasn't angry. I wasn’t angry at the Ipswich Town game. I was calm, I went over to the guy twice. What happens when we’re doing matches is and the analysis is happening at the end of the match when fans can be up or down, whatever emotions they are feeling – and people think they can abuse you, and it seems to be a, ‘We’re supposed to accept that’.
“I went over to him twice – I said, ‘No problem, if you want to abuse me or if you want a discussion with me, well I’m working’. I went over to him twice at different stages and he was swearing in front of kids. I said, ‘If you want to see me afterwards’ – and people thought I was asking him for a [fight] – I said, ‘I’ll see you in the car park’.
"Where else was I going to see him? He wasn’t there!”
