Pep Guardiola makes defiant Man City claim after falling behind Liverpool - 'It's just that'

Manchester City has now lost seven of its last 10 matches in all competitions, winning just one in that run while conceding 23 times and scoring just 12. Pep Guardiola's side is now eight points behind Liverpool in the Premier League having played a game more.

But the Etihad side's head coach is not worried, even after his team lost 2-0 to Juventus in the Champions League. Manchester City is now on just eight points from six games in Europe, though it should still progress into the knockout phase.

"We are the best!" Guardiola said in his post-match press conference in Turin (via Liverpool World). "I love my team, the way we play, and the results are not going to convince me of the opposite. The dressing room is stable; when we win we are happy, when we lose we are not. And it’s normal.

"You have to stand up! What can I do? Feel sorry for ourselves? We will go forward. I question myself, in the good moments and the bad moments. I was stable in the good moments and I’m stable in the bad moments.

"[Thursday] we recover, have a day off, and we prepare the game against Manchester United with our people and try and insist in the good things that we do and improve on what we can do better. It’s just that."

Liverpool.com says: We are at the point now where it is probably safe to say Manchester City won't be winning the Premier League. It might not be Liverpool, but Arsenal and Chelsea are both more likely candidates.

Being without Rodri is one thing but Guardiola's roster looks unbalanced and key men like Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan are starting to look their age. A big rebuild is required, which is probably why he signed a new contract. A bit like Jurgen Klopp, Guardiola won't have wanted to leave when his team was on the way down.
