Jalen Hurts: A.J. Brown wants to win and make an impact, I respect that

After a few days that featured a lot of other people talking about their relationship, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown got to speak for themselves on Wednesday.

Brown said the relationship between the two players is good and expanded on his comments after last Sunday’s win over the Panthers about the team’s passing game needing to improve. He noted how well running back Saquon Barkley has played this year and said that made it clear that there was room to get better elsewhere in the offense.

Comments from Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham made inferences about the relationship between the two players based on Brown’s comments, but he later backtracked and Brown said Wednesday that the veteran misspoke. Hurts said on Wednesday that Brown “spoke out of place” and agreed with Brown’s assessment of where things stand between two players who were friends before they were teammates.

“Sometimes things change as dynamics change,” Hurts said, via Dave Zangaro of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com. “But for him, he knows I got a lot of love for him, just like I got a lot of love for all these guys. Ultimately, he’s a guy that’s a competitor, he wants to win, he damn sure wants the ball and he wants to make an impact in the game. And I respect that. That’s just like all of us.”

The last few days have featured a little more drama than one is used to seeing with a team on a nine-game winning streak and we’ll see if airing everything out helps their bid for a franchise-record 10th in a row against the Steelers this Sunday.
