Ruben Amorim faces an all-mighty task to take Manchester United back to the top.
The Manchester United head coach has spoken confidently since arriving from Sporting CP, where he built a successful side that won two Primeira Liga titles.
It has been over a decade since United won the Premier League and fans are wondering when the long wait will come to an end.
Erik ten Hag’s dismissal proves winning cup competitions isn’t enough unless form picks up in the Premier League. United won the Carabao Cup in his first season to end a six-year trophy drought, before making it two trophies in as many years by beating Man City in the FA Cup final in May.
Fans were patient with Ten Hag like they have been with all managers in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. It will be the same for Amorim as he looks to take the Reds back to the promised land.

Ruben Amorim sets Premier League objective
Manchester United take on Plzen in the Europa League tonight, but Amorim used his pre-match press conference to stress his main objective as head coach.
The youngest United manager since Sir Matt Busby was asked if winning the Europa League is the best route back into the Champions League.
However, Amorim was keen to state that United have bigger objectives than simply getting back into the Champions League. He wants to go one step further by winning the Premier League.
MORE UNITED STORIES
“I as a coach I cannot focus on just that,” Amorim told reporters on Tuesday.
“The way we can see in the future, titles or something. Our goal is to win our Premier League. That is our goal.
“Of course you can do the math and you can understand that for a big club like us to be in the Champions League is so important. You can see and look at the table that from the Europa League, maybe it is easier. You can then perhaps take this information for this context but I am not focused on that and our goal is to win the Premier League, not just to go to the Champions League.
“To go [to] the Champions League is an important point to win the Premier League, that is really clear. But for me, the most important thing is to win and to see something different in the team in every game.”
Amorim could become the first United manager to win an away match against Czech opposition.
Amorim has a clear vision for Manchester United
Reporters were keen to learn more about Amorim’s long-term vision for United.
It is not something Amorim can explain in a short press conference, so he pushed back the question before stressing yet again that he is determined to win the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim's Sporting side were on track to have an historic season while he was in charge. They were unbeaten in both the league and Champions League and just came off a massive 4-1 win over Man City.

Amorim is not naive to the fact that United have problems to fix before expectations on the pitch rise.
Amorim added: “I cannot tell you about the vision in just a press conference. We want to take this club to winning the Premier League and to be an elite club like this club should be.
“In this way we have to make changes because of the context, I don’t know. You can change the coach because you do not have the results, so you can have a vision. Sometimes you make a slight change in direction too see the same goal, so this could happen in football and we are focused on winning the Premier League. That is the main goal of this club.”
It sounds like Amorim has his priorities in order but he will need time to implement his way of doing things. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
