With the January transfer window edging ever closer, fear among the Liverpool faithful rises regarding the future of their homegrown star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
And it looks like things will go right down to the wire.
Fresh Trent Alexander-Arnold claim emerges
Fresh Trent Alexander-Arnold claim emerges.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is yet to pen a fresh contract at Liverpool.
As reported by Cadena SER, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is confident of reaching a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and announcing the move before the January transfer window closes.
Los Blancos have been linked persistently with the England international ever since he entered the final year of his £180k-per-week contract at the start of this season. Their efforts have only increased since the season-ending injury to Dani Carvajal.
Despite the uncertainty over his future, the 26-year-old remains a starter under Arne Slot and has made 18 appearances this season across all competitions.
Apart from Alexander-Arnold, the reigning LaLiga and Champions League winners have also been linked to Pedro Porro, Diogo Dalot, and Jeremie Frimpong in recent weeks.
Alexander-Arnold unlikely to make a decision before seeing the Real Madrid offer
This close to January, it is unlikely Alexander-Arnold will want to sign a new deal at Liverpool without checking what Real Madrid have to offer.
Sure, he’s a Liverpool born-and-bred man, but a part of him will be feeling aggrieved that the club have chosen not to meets his demands so far. He has also expressed his desire to win trophies, which will be more likely to achieve in Madrid regardless of how good Liverpool remain in the coming years.
Liverpool may very well offer him up in the middle of the season if a fee can be agreed, but a decision is unlikely to be reached any which way before Real Madrid make their move.
