‘Here to talk about better things’ – Deco’s frustration shows when asked about Barcelona star’s …

Barcelona secured a valuable victory last night, defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-2 on the road in the UEFA Champions League.

After an inconsistent run, Hansi Flick’s side needed to win this match to put the ghosts of past Champions League campaigns behind them and rediscover the form that saw them dominate the early parts of the season.

While the win over Dortmund at a daunting Signal Iduna Park dominated at a critical point in the season was the major talking point, the matter of Dani Olmo’s registration is still pretty much doing the circles.

Barcelona have three weeks to re-register the summer signing for the second half of the season with his existing registration set to expire on December 31.

Deco frustrated with questions about Olmo’s registration

Movistar Plus+ journalist Ricardo Sierra asked Barcelona director Deco about this registration during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Borussia Dortmund game.

These questions, however, did not sit well with the Blaugrana sporting director.

“Surely Barça can register Olmo, the club is working on that, everything is calm,” Deco explained, though he did not clarify how they planned to make room in the salary cap.

“These are internal matters, otherwise, we would be on TV every day talking about it. Do not worry,” he concluded, addressing the journalist.

It was after being asked about the existence of a special clause in the Spanish international’s contract which would allow him to leave Barça for free if unregistered that Deco began to show more irritation.

“The player is calm, do not worry,” he reiterated.

At that point, when the journalist explained that he was shifting the line of questioning, Deco gestured, raising his eyebrows and shaking his head, to show his weariness and frustration with the repeated questions.

“You give me a face, but it is obvious that this is the question that had to be asked,” the journalist said after noticing Deco’s reaction.

“We are here to talk about football, about the match, about better things,” the sporting director firmly concluded.

Barça are on the verge of closing the Nike agreement and are also working on generating revenue from other streams which would allow them to register Olmo and Pau Victor without any issues.

Amidst reports of the existence of the special clause with which he can leave for free if not registered, Olmo is understood to be calm and relaxed about the situation and has not given any thought about an exit.
