Jadon Sancho makes Premier League title race comment and says Chelsea stars in agreement

Jadon Sancho has insisted that the Chelsea squad are not gettinig carried away over their Premier League title prospects.

Under the guidance of new manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea have had a strong start to the season, and find themselves second in the league, trailing leaders Liverpool by just four points after 15 matches. Although, the Reds do have the advantage of having a game in hand.

The 24-year-old winger has been in fine form since arriving at Stamford Bridge on loan from Manchester United earlier this year. Nevertheless, Sancho has conveyed that, while the Blues are aware of their strong position, his teammates are staying level-headed about their chances.

When prompted by Sky Sports on whether Chelsea were blocking out the noise about title aspirations, Sancho responded: "Nah, but that's what all the guys are saying to each other. Like, we haven't done anything yet."

Sancho's once high-flying career hit a major snag following a high-profile £73million move from Dortmund to United in 2021. Having struggled to find favour with former United manager Erik ten Hag, which led to his banishment from the squad, his switch to London on the last day of the transfer window has rejuvenated his career, reports the Mirror.

Making ten appearances for Maresca's side so far, the ex-Manchester City youth player is quickly establishing himself as a vital asset for the team. With a tally of two goals and five assists to his name, the talented winger was instrumental in Chelsea's dramatic comeback against Tottenham last weekend.

Trailing by two goals, Sancho weaved through Spurs' defence and fired a powerful shot that left goalkeeper Fraser Forster helpless, sparking Chelsea's thrilling 4-3 comeback victory. Currently, Sancho is averaging 1.9 successful dribbles per game in the Premier League, the highest in the Chelsea squad.

As per Who Scored, he also averages 0.8 shots per game. With five goal involvements already, it's a stark contrast to his stint at United where he contributed to just 18 goals in 83 appearances for the Red Devils.

His improved form hasn't gone unnoticed. Maresca has been full of praise for his in-form winger but has cautioned the young star that he needs to maintain this level to secure his place in what promises to be an exciting season for Chelsea.

"Since we started, the reason why Jadon came here is because we think Jadon is going to help us," Maresca said after the Blues' victory over Spurs. "Unfortunately, he had small problems, so he was out for a while. Now he is back and the only thing he has to do is continue in the same way. He cannot drop, otherwise he is not going to play."

Sancho himself has acknowledged that he has found his love for the game again since joining Chelsea. "From day one, they made me feel welcome at Chelsea," Sancho said to Super Sport TV.

"I know that I have a lot of people to prove wrong. I've been working very hard. Let me say thank you to the staff and the team for believing in me and giving me the opportunity."
